How To Share Your Internet Connection

Use your Mac to solve access issues and get iPhones, iPads and more online

One of your Mac’s many talents is its ability to share a single internet connection with multiple devices, such as your iPhone or iPad, or even another computer. This can be really useful in a range of situations. You might be in a hotel that doesn’t have Wi-Fi but does have a wired Ethernet connection in your room. Here, you can plug your Mac into the wall and share the connection out over Wi-Fi, for you to get your iPhone or iPad online too.

Radiation therapy in the treatment of Prostate Cancer

Cancer often invokes fear, not only among the patients but also the relatives and friends of the patients too. Moreover, cancer related to prostate is hard to discuss for men. One of the primary treatment methods for “prostate cancer” is “Radiation therapy” and patients need to know its importance and reliability as a treatment method. Usually radiation therapy offers one of the treatment options with the least possible risks involved. During Radiation therapy, concentrated radiation is targeted at affected cancer cells in the prostate to destroy or burn it. With the latest developments in radiation treatment, doctors can now manage to destroy cancer cells without damaging nearby healthy cells.

mac os smart folders

You can make a smart folder for almost anything. Here’s how to do it…

Let’s face it, keeping tabs on the many thousands of files and folders on your Mac would tax even the most Zen-like organisational super-being, so it’s no wonder most us never come close. We all start off with the best intentions, of course. You create a folder for your Personal stuff, another folder for your Work stuff, and then start creating folders within folders in each to try to corral it all so it makes sense. And then you go and forget how you were organising it and start doing it a different way. Or you throw caution to the wind and just drop files and folders, here, there and everywhere – usually all over your desktop. What an unsightly mess!

How to Prepare a Slide Presentation

Most importantly of all, don’t plan your presentation round the slides. Do it the other way round. Create the structure first, and then consider what visuals will support or illustrate the various points. This avoids the structure of the presentation being driven by the PowerPoint, which is something that happens with great regularity.

Visual aids should add value to your presentation. Avoid producing slides that simply repeat what you’re going to say. If words are all you have on them they’re potentially dull and probably not going to be effective as a visual ‘aid’. Add relevant pictures, statistics, diagrams, etc. Give your audience something interesting to look at which complements and reinforces the messages you want to communicate. Continue reading »

Breast Cancer Risk Factors

It is a good idea for all women to be checked yearly for possible signs of breast cancer, especially because breast cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer in women. Yearly mammograms are usually recommended by all medical professionals in the field as it only increases a woman’s chance that breast cancer will be detected early enough to be killed off in its early stages.

When thinking about whether or not you’ll eventually develop breast cancer in your life, there are certain breast cancer risk factors that one should know about in order to stay aware of the possibility. These breast cancer risk factors should be reviewed by you and your doctor, but making sure that you know about certain risks is important to your overall breast cancer awareness as well.

Breast Cancer Risk Assessment

Breast cancer issues are very serious no matter who the patient is. A woman can be diagnosed at either age 25 or 85 and still be completely devastated about the disease. However, if a woman is careful throughout her life and corresponds with herself and her doctor on a regular basis then she should be ready for any breast cancer risk assessment that comes along. When it comes to learning about the different risks and problems associated with breast cancer, many women tend to think that it will not happen to them, of course. However, with over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer being reported each year according to the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, no woman should dismiss the possibility of being affected by the disease as well.

How to Write the Best Presentation Script

If you decide you do need a script for a particular occasion, where do you start? One option is obviously to write it yourself. If you’re experienced in putting your thoughts down on paper you should have no trouble pulling together a workable script. It’s much like writing a report or a proposal.

The main difference is that you need to write as you speak. If you draft your speech ‘correctly’, as you would a formal piece of Writing, you’ll come across as stuffy and lacking in personality. Following these simple ‘rules’ will help make it sound more natural:

Master Special Characters

Use OS X’s tools and an affordable app to find and type special characters

Although the English alphabet is pretty simple, with just 26 letters, there are plenty of characters beyond A to Z. Some are so commonplace you use them every day: currency symbols, punctuation and mathematical notation. Many other useful characters are also available to Mac users, but they’re somewhat ‘hidden’ from view, largely through not being displayed on standard Apple keyboards. For example, on a British keyboard, # appears absent, but you can type it with a and 3.

Electric cars

Deciding whether to purchase an electric car is probably one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. Electric cars are something which many people think about getting, but then decide that the problems are too great, and they could never manage using only electric cars to get about. Although these cars do have some great benefits, such as helping you to escape the massive gas prices, and improving the amount of pollution you produce, they also have a significant number of disadvantages which can mean that you never manage to use an electric car successfully.
